Unable to find the F&O instances in the power automate connector

Hi,

I am trying to create new power automate flow in of the our account, But I am not finding the dynamics instances in the Fin & Ops connector.

I have added this user to LCS project as "Project owner" role
I have given "system administration" permission in power platform admin centre for our UAT environment.

I have also added this user to our dynamics UAT environment and given "System administrator" role (Though I think it should work even without this)

Hi Karthik,

Can you tell if this user is an internal or external user?
Instead of using the Fin & Ops connector, have you considered the Dataverse connector? See also my blog: Battle of the Connectors - Microsoft Dataverse vs Fin & Ops Apps (Dynamics 365) - Dynamicspedia

Hi Andre,

This is internal account, actually I asked our IT group to create one non-human(not specific to any user) account to publish all our flows. They said they have created service account and given one email, by seeing it looks like any other email but just the name is generic; does this make any difference. And I am using service principle for Fin & Ops connector.

Thanks for the additional details. In case you are using a service principal, you can try to link the service principal to a user on the form Microsoft Entra ID applications in Dynamics 365 F&O.

Are you otherwise getting a list of environments if you are using your credentials in the connection?

I have added the APP Id to MS entra applications in Dynamics 365 F&O. I don't see any issue with Entra App ID.

I am getting the list if I login PA with my credentials. Earlier I have created many flows with my account. But now the time is to move the flows to production, and I hesitate to keep them in my account.

Actually I tried a scenario, where I have shared the flow to the account with issue and made local copy there and I can execute the flow there, but can't change the URI instance.

Usually, we should get the drop down here, but in the account which had this issue I can't change the instance, but I can execute the flow with existing instance.

In this error case, I use the action by entering the URL directly using custom value and it's working fine.

Hi Andre,

No, it still doesn’t work even after setting a custom value. I’m getting an error while resolving the data entities.

After that, I tried a few options:

I created an environment variable for the Dynamics instance and used it in the “Instance” field of the Fin and Ops connector. The idea was to switch the variable to the production URL during solution import in the prod environment. However, this didn’t work, as the connector does not seem to read environment variables. It appears that the Fin and Ops connector doesn’t support them.

The only remaining option was to change the Fin and Ops connector instance to the Prod URL in UAT and then migrate the solution. This worked, but there is a risk if I forget to switch the URL back to UAT or forget to turn it off.

I also want to try your suggestion of using the Dataverse connector. The entity used in the flow is “SalesOrderHeaderDocumentAttachmentV2Entity,” and I’m not sure how this will work with Dataverse virtual entities. I will try this in the future, and if it works as expected, I’ll move the flows to Dataverse.

Hi Karthik,

Thanks for the update. The Fin&Ops connector is indeed not aware of environment variables as this is connecting to F&O using OData only. The Dataverse connector is aware of the current environment where you can also read environment variables.

If you will try the Dataverse connector in future, feel free to create a new question on the forum in case you need assistance.

Hi Karthik,

Double check few things,

1. If you are using D365FO connector, check the connection details and user access in respective FO environment.

2. If you are using service principle, try in postman once if you are able to make a connection/authentiction respective environment.
