Unable to find D365 FO custom API AI in Copilot Studio

Hi everyone,

I am trying to access some custom APIs in Copilot Studio, but I’m unable to find or use them. I came across to this article that mentions a (Synchronize) button. However in my current D365 F&O environment under System administration > Setup > Custom APIs this button is not available (as shown in the image).
Could you please advise how I can access or enable these custom API tools in Copilot Studio?
I appreciate your suggestions.

Hi D365FO Junior-Dev,

1) Issue
- Custom APIs from D365 Finance and Operations are not visible or accessible in Copilot Studio
- The Synchronize button mentioned in documentation is missing under System administration > Setup > Custom APIs
- Users are unable to expose or consume custom APIs for Copilot or external integrations
- This blocks integration scenarios between D365 F&O and Copilot Studio

2) Reason
- The issue is caused by the Custom API framework for Copilot requiring specific platform features and configurations that are not enabled in the environment
- The Synchronize action is only available in environments where the required feature flags or platform updates supporting Copilot integration are activated
- A required service such as Dataverse virtual entity exposure or API synchronization service is not enabled or not properly initialized
- This leads to a situation where custom APIs are not registered or exposed for discovery by Copilot Studio
- This can happen due to missing feature management configuration outdated platform versions or incomplete environment setup for Copilot integration scenarios

3) Resolution
- Verify that the environment is running a supported D365 Finance and Operations version that includes Copilot and Custom API capabilities
- Check Feature management and ensure that relevant features for Custom APIs and Copilot integration are enabled
- Confirm that the environment is properly linked with Dataverse and that dual write or virtual entity integration is configured if required
- Validate that the user has appropriate security roles to access and manage Custom APIs
- Check if the Custom API functionality requires enabling via Lifecycle Services or environment configuration
- If the Synchronize button is missing ensure that all prerequisite services and updates are deployed
- Test in a sandbox environment with the latest updates applied
- Review Microsoft documentation for feature availability as some functionality may be in preview or limited rollout
- If the issue persists capture environment details version and configuration and create a Microsoft support ticket
