Production order > GAP between start dates in Production route operations

Dear Experts,

We are facing a problem with the Production orders:

  1. The production order start date is 08.01.2025 and, the end date is 03.02.2025
  2. In the BOM, the raw material date is 08.01.2025
  3. In the Production route from Operation 10 until Operation 430 Start date is 08.01.2025 and then from Operation 440 the start date is 30.01.2025
  4. These route steps are no bottleneck. There is plenty of capacity-free.
  5. When we reschedule manually the Production order (Scheduling direction - Backword from delivery dates, Finity capacity is Yes, Finity material is Yes) the start date of the order is rescheduled to 30.01.2025 which is close to the delivery date.

So our question is how D365 calculates start dates 08.01.2025 instead of 30.01.2025 which is more logical? If this is because Raw material date, why this date is so soon?

How can we resolve this issue to get the correct short lead time for the Production orders?

Does anyone have knowledge of how to fix and deal with this issue?

Thanks!

D365 may be prioritizing the material date in the BOM (08.01.2025), causing the production schedule to start early. Check the "Finite Material" settings, production line lead time, and BOM lead time to adjust the schedule more appropriately.

    Good day,

What is total through put time for the production order? Is it in total 2 days? When for example the through put time is two days and the delivery date is 10th of February, the system will propose a start date for the 8th February.

    Best regards,
