Filling up tempdb dynamic string field for multiple packing slip journal ids

Hello, ax people,

I have a requireement to print all packing slip journalids for itemid separated by comma in ER report section where there are salesline itmemids and each itemid can be in several delivery notes. I create a tempdb table where there is dynamic string field containg all packing slip journalids relating to this itemid separated by comma. As far as I see I can iterate through packing slip  and collect all journalids and write it to the tempdb.journalids(for example) field. But it doesn't seem elegant solution.

Also since list of journalids is dynamic I need to use memo data type for the field tempdb.journalids but there are many constraints relating to memo field. On the other hand, using fixed size string field for instance 1000 symbols also looks strange for me. I t will work but what is at some point in time there will be a string with many packing slipjournals exceeding 1000 symbols.

Maybe there is best practise for such task and thing like that in AX? Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks.

You can utilize StringJoin function in ER to concatenate values of a data source field to a string.

    Hello,

Could you please better contextualize the requirement?

You mentioned Electronic Reporting (ER) model, in this model (what model?) do you already have a record set that contains the list of packing slip journal IDs related to each ItemId, i (think sales line ?). A couple of month ago i made the same for ER Invoice format. As Martin mentioned, the STRINGJOIN function in ER could be useful for this scenario, since it allows you to concatenate values from a record list into a single comma-separated string without the need for a TempDB table, if you have a dataset in ER that rapresent your list, simply joining using relations.

What is not entirely clear is why the TempDB table is necessary in this case.

That would help to better understand the scenario and suggest a cleaner solution.

    Thanks.

Let's imaginge I have a list of all itemids. What should be the approach to show all related packing slip journal ids? I should create a calculated list in er mapping based on the packingslipjour?

    Thanks.
