I’m working with Dynamics 365 Business Central and need to change the datatype of a field that exists in the standard (base) application.

For example, the field is currently Text, but the requirement is to handle it as Integer (or another datatype).

Hi,

In Business Central it is not possible to change the datatype of any field be it standard or customized application. It will be treated as a breaking change.

The only changes possible to standard tables are through table extensions which are provided in this document. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/administration/appmanagement/app-management-updating-with-forcesync

So it is not possible to channge the datatype of any standard field. For your apps if you do that, it will be breaking changes.
