Mismatch Between Inventory Ageing Report and Trial Balance in D365 F&O

Dear Pioneers,

As mentioned in the subject line, the Inventory Ageing report is not matching the Trial Balance in D365 F&O. When comparing the closing balances, the Inventory Ageing report reflects a balance of 37.50 crores, whereas the Trial Balance shows 39 crores.

I am new to this process and have not handled it independently before. I would greatly appreciate your valuable inputs and guidance in helping resolve this discrepancy.

Hello,

It's ofen happen when there was some issue with the posting profie.

Try to run the report "Potential conflicts - inventory and general ledger":

Whatever you need to investigate deep dive, you can see:

- Check the inventory posting profile setup (typically found in Inventory management > Setup > Posting > Posting
- Verify the voucher transaction, for each relevant event (such as purchase accrual at product receipt, purchase invoice posting, etc.), whether the accounts that are moved (debited/credited) are consistent with the configured posting profile rules.

Hi @Durga Rao P,

The Inventory Aging report may not always match the Inventory Trial Balance because Inventory Aging is an operational analysis based on on-hand quantities and transaction dates, whereas the Inventory Trial Balance is a financial report based on posted inventory values.

Differences typically occur due to physical versus financial posting timing, costing methods, and inventory close adjustments.

For reconciliation between the inventory subledger and Trial Balance, the Inventory Value report should be used, as it is financially posted , ensuring alignment with the Trial Balance.

Adding to the other very good coments, also check if there were no manual posting on those accounts (that usually are to be moved only with automatic transactions and not by GL journals) and consider adding the flag "Do not allow manual entry" on the Main account to avoid that it happens in the future:

If that happened, the report that was pointed in the previous post ("Potential conflicts - inventory and general ledger") should show it.
