Adding non-invoiced items to shipments

The business wants to be able to include instruction manuals with outgoing shipments, but does not want this item to be entered in the item ledger or inventory.
The reason given is that they do not want this order line to appear on the customer's invoice, and that the system is set up to prevent 0 unit price items. The business does not want a cost added to the inventory for this.

Is there a way to include a consumable that can be added to a sales order, so that the warehouse shipment document will include a line for warehouse staff to pick the correct instruction manual for an order, without it being a part of inventory or appearing on invoices?

Another option is to customize the reports so that non-inventory items are not displayed. In this case, your order would include both the inventory item being sold and the non-inventory item for the manual, which has a price of $0. By customizing the report, you can ensure that only the inventory items are shown.

You could accomplish this through Assembly Management.  The Sales Line Item would be an Assemble to Order (or Assemble to Stock if boxed ahead of time) Item.  The Assembly BOM would include the actual Finished Good and a non-Inventory Item representing the manual.  The Pick for the Assemble to Order would be the components, while the Sales Documents would be just the "Assembled" Item.

As far as I know this can't be done, you'll need some customization.
Please contact your partner to resolve the need.

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.
