Dynamics 365 Sales (CRM) Opportunities – Business Process and Integration Questions

Hello ,

I am currently reviewing the Opportunity process in Dynamics 365 Sales (CRM) and its integration with Dynamics 365 Business Central. I have some questions and would appreciate your guidance:

1. Opportunity and Quotes Relationship

In Dynamics 365 Sales:

  • Can one Opportunity be linked to multiple Quotes?
  • What is the recommended standard process if we need to create more than one quotation for the same opportunity?
  • Should we create multiple Opportunities for multiple quotations, or should one Opportunity contain multiple Quotes?

2. Opportunity Synchronization with Business Central

Regarding the integration between Dynamics 365 Sales and Business Central:

  • What is the standard synchronization direction for Opportunity?
    • CRM → Business Central?
    • Business Central → CRM?
    • Bidirectional synchronization?
  • Is the Opportunity entity synchronized by standard Microsoft integration, or does it require customization?

3. Standard Business Processes Including Opportunity in Dynamics 365 Sales

I would like to understand the standard CRM business processes that include Opportunity.

For example, one possible process is:

Activity → Lead → Opportunity → Quote → Work Order → Sales Order

Could you please share the standard Dynamics 365 Sales / Field Service processes where Opportunity is involved, such as:

  • Lead → Opportunity → Quote
  • Opportunity → Product / Quote → Order
  • Opportunity → Field Service Work Order
  • Any other standard scenarios involving Opportunity

The goal is to understand the correct CRM process flow before designing our implementation.

Thank you
