I have been trying to understand the relationship between containerization and inbound loads (if any). I am well familiar with building a container and putting it on the load for outbound but I am wondering if something similar can be done for inbound. The requirement is very simple, I would like to track what kind of pallets (CHEP or regular) are coming on a load to my warehouse. For instance, on a given load there can be both types of pallets and I simply want to know which pallet belongs to which purchase order or purchase order line since more than 1 PO will be on that load.
Is there any way to track that or assign a pallet to an inbound load? I have been reading all over but no one has been able to explain it. The process we follow is that we create a PO and then it is put on an inbound load and then eventually it is received. In this process I would like to attach a pallet “reference” so I know how many CHEP pallets for instance I received as part of this inbound load.
