Hello Experts,

I have a requirement to display some insights in a separate custom tab of the Lead form in Microsoft Dynamics 365. The idea is to:

Package this as a managed solution so that my clients can install and use it.
When the user clicks on the custom tab, I will pass the Lead ID, Name, and Company to my web service API.
The API will return insights, which should be displayed in an enhanced, user-friendly UI within the tab.

Can "HTML Webresource" achieve this requirement? Is there any recommended method or best practice to integrate such external API calls and display results in a tab UI?

Yes, you can achieve this by different ways listed below:

Custom HTML & Javascript (Web Resources)

PCF Control

Canvas App

Iframes

Each one can be used to implement this functionality but requires reviewing its pros & cons as well. With latest trends, tech folks are choosing to go with PCF or Canvas. I would suggest reviewing your requirements and each option and choose better option as per your requirement.
