Dynamics NAV 2016 On Prem SQL to Azure SQL Managed Instance — supportability

We're planning a migration of a Dynamics NAV 2016 deployment from on-prem SQL Server to Azure SQL Managed Instance, and I'd like to sanity-check the supportability position and the engine-version risk before we commit.

If anyone is running NAV 2016 (or 2017/2018) on SQLMI in production, I'd value hearing:
- MI tier — is Business Critical effectively mandatory, or is General Purpose viable with pre-sized data files?
- Posting and month-end performance vs. the previous on-prem instance

Thanks.
