Master Planning Question - 2 records in per Master Planning execution in History Form (workspace)

Hello Experts! I hope you are doing well today, I have a question regarding execution of master planning using the old engine:

We created a batch job that runs Master Planning once per day every night but when we go to the history in the Master Planning Workspace I can see that per each run, I have two lines in the history form.

One with planning method set to Regeneration

And one with planning method set to Net change minimized

Is this normal? Why do I see two lines instead of one?

Thanks!

    Hi @Fernando Villamán U. ,

Looking at the two planning log entries, I suspect this may be related to the “Copy the complete and updated static master plan to the dynamic master plan” parameter.

With the legacy master planning engine, if this parameter is enabled, the system can update/copy the dynamic plan after the static plan has completed. This could explain why you see the first run with Planning method = Regeneration, followed immediately by another entry with Planning method = Net change minimized.

In your example, the second run takes only 20 seconds and shows 0 items, 0 BOM lines, 0 productions, 0 planned orders, and 0 changes, which suggests that it isn't performing another full master-planning calculation, but rather processing the dynamic plan with nothing additional to calculate.

I would recommend checking Master planning > Setup > Master planning parameters, particularly:

    • Current static master plan
    • Current dynamic master plan
    • Copy the complete and updated static master plan to the dynamic master plan

If the copy parameter is enabled, I would test by disabling it in a non-production environment and running the same scenario to confirm whether the second Net change minimized log entry disappears.

So my current assumption would be: Regeneration is the actual full static-plan run, and the subsequent Net change minimized entry is likely related to updating/processing the dynamic plan.

    Regards,
