Question about the future of Global Inventory Accounting (GIA) in Dynamics 365 SCM

Hi community
I'm reaching out because, while reviewing the Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management release notes, we saw that Global Inventory Accounting (GIA) was marked as deprecated as of the 10.0.49 release, with an end-of-support date of July 1, 2027.
According to the official documentation, Microsoft indicates that GIA will be replaced by a "multi-ledger costing" solution, but as of now we haven't found a formal announcement with an availability status (preview or GA) or a concrete timeline. The only reference Microsoft links to is a general blog post from May 2025 (Gartner CFO conference), which doesn't name the successor product or provide implementation details.
We're currently evaluating the use of GIA
  • Given that GIA's end of support is July 2027, would you recommend starting a new GIA implementation now as a bridge solution, or would you suggest we evaluate long-term supported alternatives already available within Supply Chain Management?
  • If we do move forward with GIA in the short term, what considerations or best practices would you recommend to minimize the effort of a future migration?
Thanks

    Hi Juan,

Nice to e-meet you on this forum. The deprecation announcement surprised me. Yes, there are investments in the core financials, but these are still in development as far as I know.

I do expect that end of support will not directly mean that GIA will be unavailable after July 1, 2027. It will not be directly removed. I noticed your question in the MVP-DL. I will also monitor the replies.
