Customer statement report field - document type

I was looking in both the report ID 1316 word layout version, and the 10072 RDLC version for the field document type. This document type field available in the general ledger entries, customer ledger entries etc, would be a useful filter on a customer statement as a separate field to show what is left overdue for invoices, payment, finance charge memo, etc. Is this field available on either report to add out of the box? Ideally I would also want to be able to control the field so that it only shows it by toggled invoice, finance charge memo for example. This way the customer can distinguish between what is overdue for invoice charges and what is overdue for finance charges. I checked but it was not obvious to me which field it is in the existing field options.
I have the same question (0)

it does make sense that customization would be needed on the option filters too as I did not see it there when searching for it

The field is available in report 10072. However, if you want to filter it by document type when printing or emailing, the report will need to be customized to include this option as a filter on the report request page. This customization is necessary even if the field exists out of the box. Alternatively, you can run the report, export it to Excel, and manually filter the document type field there.
