    Hi Girish,

    Steps to Remove Sample Data:

    1. Open Power Platform Admin Center
          Navigate to: https://admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com
Sign in with your administrator credentials.
    2. Select the Environment
In the left-hand navigation pane, click on Environments.
From the list, choose the environment where you want to remove sample data.
    3. Access Environment Settings
With the environment selected, click on Settings in the top menu.
    4. Navigate to Data Management
Under the Settings panel, scroll down and click on Data Management.
    5. Select Sample Data
In the Data Management section, click on Sample Data.
    6. Remove Sample Data
Click the Remove Sample Data button.
        Confirm the removal when prompted.

How to delete the Sample data imported when Higher Education Accelerator was added to the environment

    Hi Girish,

When the Higher Education Accelerator is installed with sample data, there is currently no one-click option to remove all sample data across environments. Here's how you can proceed:

✅ Recommended Steps to Remove Sample Data

    1. Manual Deletion by Entity

      • The sample data must be deleted manually per entity.

      • Go to Advanced Find or use Dataverse tables to locate records (e.g., students, courses, applications) and delete them.

      • This applies to DEV, UAT, and PROD environments individually.

    2. Use Bulk Delete Jobs

      • Navigate to Settings > Data Management > Bulk Record Deletion.

      • Create bulk delete jobs targeting sample data entities.

      • Schedule or run them immediately to clean up large volumes of data.

    3. Check Installation Settings

      • Sample data is only installed if the checkbox is selected during the SPA install experience.

      • For future installs, ensure this option is unchecked to avoid importing sample data.

    4. Contact Microsoft Support

      • If manual deletion is too time-consuming or if you're unsure which entities were populated, contact Microsoft at dynindaccsupport@microsoft.com for assistance with cleanup scripts or guidance.

    5.

Unfortunately, the classic view > Data Management > Sample Data > Remove Sample Data option does not apply to accelerator-specific data, which is why it didn’t work in your case.

    Thanks and best regards,

    Daniele

RE: How to delete the Sample data imported when Higher Education Accelerator was added to the environment

    Hi Beth

Regular Dynamics 365 sample data can be managed (installed/uninstalled) at any point in time (regardless of environment) through the system functionality.,

Whilst understanding that HE sample data would normally be used for demo/dev environments, there are given scenarios where we'd want to start off using it, and then remove it from the environment. Rather than needing to do this table by table (which can be laborious) it would be good to have a tool available that could automatically strip it out for us.

    Regards

    EY

    Many Thanks, Beth,

so just to confirm to delete Higher Education sample data we have to manually delete individual entity data rather than bulk remove sample data from settings

    Thanks for reaching out, Girish.

Sample data should not be installed in prod environments. It is meant for demo/dev environments, it doesn’t come with the accelerator by default, only when the sample data checkbox is checked on the SPA install experience.

There is no option to uninstall/delete the sample data by one click, it can be easily deleted one entity at a time. Please reach out to our support team at dynindaccsupport@microsoft.com if you need more assistance.

    Best,

    Beth
