Hi,

I have searched and searched online to find a way to add tags on items in Business Central on each item, which automaticly transferes to Shopify as a tag in that system.
I can seem to find to "tag" field in BC?
Anyone has a solution for that?

currently using item attributes as a list of visible features on the item, so it is not preferable to add a line for each tag there?

Hopefully someone knows a great solution?

Add Tags on items in BC that is transfered to Shopify as tags?

Hello, Business Central does not have a built-in Tag field for items, but you can achieve this by using Item Attributes or a custom field. Since you're already using Item Attributes for visible features, another approach is to create a custom field on the Item Card specifically for Shopify tags and map it in your Shopify integration settings.

If customization is not an option, you could use Item Categories or Product Groups in Business Central and map them to Shopify tags through middleware like Shopify Connector or Power Automate. Reviewing your Shopify integration settings in Business Central will help determine the best way to sync tags effectively.

Hope this answer will help you!

I hve attached both item attiibutes and categories, but I can't get them to be "tags" in Shopify.
They can be shown as a list on the products site of attibutes, but I like for them to actually land in the Tag section in shopify:

Add Tags on items in BC that is transfered to Shopify as tags?
Hi there! Good morning, evening, or afternoon - depending on where you are :) Hope you are well today!

While Business Central doesn't have a dedicated "tag" field for items, you can achieve this using the Shopify Connector and some customization. Here's a solution:

Steps to Add Tags and Sync with Shopify
    1. Enable Item Synchronization:
      • In Business Central, navigate to the Shopify Shop Card for your store.
      • Enable the Item Synchronization setting and set the Sync Item field to To Shopify. This ensures items in Business Central are prepared for export to Shopify.
    2. Personalize the Item Card:
      • Open the Item Card in Business Central.
      • Personalize the page to add a custom field for tags. This field can be used to store tags for each item.
    3. Assign Tags to Items:
      • Use the custom field to enter tags for each item. Tags can be separated by commas or stored as a list.
    4. Map Tags to Shopify:
      • Configure the Shopify Connector to map the custom tags field in Business Central to the tags field in Shopify. This may require customization or extension development.
    5. Automate Synchronization:
      • Set up a job queue in Business Central to run the item synchronization process regularly. This ensures that any new or updated tags in Business Central are automatically transferred to Shopify.
    6. Verify in Shopify:
      • After synchronization, check the Products section in Shopify to ensure the tags have been applied correctly.
    Alternative Approach
If customization is not an option, you can use item attributes creatively:
    • Create a new attribute group specifically for tags.
    • Add tags as attributes under this group.
    • Sync item attributes to Shopify and use them as tags.
