Project Management And Accounting | Saudi Electronic Invoicing | ZATCA Integration

Does Saudi Electronic Invoicing works with Project invoices or it just works with Sales orders and Free Text Invoices?

And if it works with Project invoices, could you elaborate what are the extra setup required incase that we are already working with ZATCA integration on Sales order using the standard.

1) Issue
- Requirement to understand whether Saudi Electronic Invoicing (ZATCA integration) supports Project invoices in D365 Finance / Project Operations
- Current ZATCA integration is already working for Sales Orders
- Uncertainty if the same applies to Project invoices or only to Sales Orders and Free Text Invoices
- Need to identify any additional configuration required for Project invoice integration

2) Reason
- The limitation is caused by how ZATCA integration is implemented within D365 Finance focusing primarily on standard invoice frameworks
- ZATCA integration is natively supported for Sales Orders and Free Text Invoices as these are part of the standard Accounts Receivable invoicing engine
- Project invoices are generated via Project Management and Accounting which uses a separate invoicing framework and posting logic
- This leads to a gap where Project invoices are not automatically included in the ZATCA integration unless explicitly configured
- This can happen because Project invoice posting does not always trigger the same electronic invoicing pipeline as standard AR invoices

3) Resolution
- Confirm that Project invoices are enabled for electronic invoicing by configuring Electronic Reporting (ER) formats for Project invoice scenarios
- Extend or adapt the existing ZATCA ER configuration to include Project invoice data sources
- Ensure that Project invoice journals are included in the Electronic invoicing setup and posting routines
- Validate that Customer invoice parameters and Electronic messaging framework include Project invoice document types
- Configure tax setup correctly for Project transactions including VAT groups and item tax groups
- Test end to end posting of Project invoices and verify that XML generation QR code and ZATCA submission are triggered
- If standard ER formats do not support Project invoices implement extensions to map Project invoice data into the ZATCA schema
- Align number sequences and invoice identifiers to meet ZATCA compliance requirements
- Perform validation using ZATCA sandbox before going live
- If required engage Microsoft or partner support as Project invoice ZATCA support may require additional localization or customization
