Stop reservations on a BOM line

Hi All,

**** need some advice**

I have Finished good item with 5 Lines and 3 of them are packaging materials.

When my production order is estimated it is updating the reservations on these pack items. I dont want to reserve these materials or create pick work but directly consume them in production as I go.

Without reservations - yes it will impact my available physical overstated and has implications on planning, but most of my master planning runs in 3rd shift and no production runs, so within a day my package consumptions should true up for 95%.

Is there a setting similar to this at BOM Line how can we address the issue with config?

Good day,

I believe it is not possible to avoid the reservation for a specific BOM line item. However, via the product filter codes you can avoid the work creation.

Create and assign a product filter code

Exclude the product filter code via the query of the raw material work template

@Laurens vd Tang: I am already using this as a work around and stopping work creation and doing full pallet moves of packaging items to prod input locations.

Still this does not solve the inventory reservation issue - someone has to manually go and clear reservations on each PROD BOM line and this has flow on effect on master planning trying to plan for incorrectly.
