Product Name differs in Sales order line and Purchase Order line

Hi Team,

I am seeing a weird issue, May be a bug.

Use Case:
Item with product master defined with Size enabled as a dimension (may not be size specific).

Item Number
M0011

Product Name: Door Speaker Unit testing maximum characters of the item name.
Variant Name: Door Speaker Unit 4 Inch.

When we add item M0011 with variant number 00008 in Sales order line level it shows the product name as below : Door Speaker Unit testing maximum characters of the item nam/Door Speaker Unit 4 Inch. Which means it is populating the Released product name/Released product variant name in D365fo. Any which ways it truncates to 60 characters even if it is released product name or released product variant name.

From Sales order line if i create a purchase order, in purchase order line could notice that product name is being truncated differently it is not showing the variant name only if the Released product name it self is touching 60 characters. May i know the reason for it ?

Thanks,

    Hi,

I see you are using a sales category in your sales order. Could you please check the name of the sales category, or put in only the product\item without the category name in order to see where the name is coming from.

    Kind regards, Adis

    Good day,

I could not find any parameter which gives the option to make a distinction for the product (variant) name on the purchase/sales order.  I would consider to raise a bug to Microsoft.

    Best regards,
    Laurens van der Tang

    Hi @Adis,

It is irrespective of the Sales category, We have not entered item with Sales category i have entered by Sales order item level.

@Laurens vd Tang: Looks like a bug to me.. But wanted to confirm in the forum before i proceed.

    Thanks,
