Version 24.5.23489.23968, Issue with reorder point, Error Message Unknown record type

Hi All,
I encountered an issue in Business Central version 24.5.23489.23968 when changing the reorder point for an item. After changing the value for the reorder point and pressing the back button on the item card, two error messages appear. First, the standard error message: "The page contains an error. Refresh (F5) to undo the change or correct the error." Additionally, the error message "Unknown record type" is displayed. In the production environment with version 24.4.22295.22393, no error occurs when changing the reorder point. I also uninstalled our app from the sandbox to rule out any influence from the app. However, the error reappeared exactly as before.

Thank you and kind regards
Michael

    Hi all,

We ran into this very same problem at one of our customers. It turns out that Microsoft did quite a big overhaul of codeunit 1521, which, among other things, is responsible for creating 'Notification Entries' from workflows. Apparently, before BC24.5 it was possible to create Notification Entries of type 'New Record' for any record in the system. Since the update, it is now only possible to do this for Purchase documents. If the record that triggered the workflow - in which the 'New Record' notification is generated - is not a purchase order, you receive the error 'Unknown record type' when the workflow is triggered.

I don't know why Microsoft decided to change the behaviour of these notifications, and why they don't want 'New record' notifications to be created for records other than purchase documents. I could also not find anything related to this in the release notes.

But hopefully it answers your question!

I created new UOM "NEW". I selected the new UOM in a item template. I created a new item, set the No. to TEST-ITEM2 and click on Apply Template.
I select the template wiith new UOM. After confirming the message "apply data from template," the message "Unknown record type" appears.

When creating a new sandbox, I cannot select version 24.5, only two versions of 25.0 are available.
I don’t think this helps in my case because I don’t know when version 25.0 will be rolled out.

We have not created any flows in BC.

In the sandbox, I have another test company with items and units. In that company, I can edit items and create new items. Some units are missing in this company, and no postings have been made yet.

I have an environment in the sandbox that is a copy of the production environment.
I performed the update to version 24.5.23489.25205.
In this environment, there are no issues when creating or modifying an item.
I will take the time to investigate the problem in the sandbox environment under the company and will report back once I have found the issue.
Thank you for your strong support, and sorry for any inconvenience.

    Hi
Have you configured any approval flow when there is a change in the item record? Can you deactivate that flow and try again.

Strange, I am using the same sandbox but am not encountering this type of error.

Suggestion: Create New UOM. After Create an item template select that new created UOM and use that template to create the item. check it.

As i suggested earlier. Have you check by creating new sandbox and doing the same?

    Hi all,
first of all, thank you for the contributions.
I have found the cause of the error. I first performed a refresh on the sandbox. Then I created a new item. When selecting the Base Unit of Measure, I received the "Unknown record Type" error. No matter which Base Unit of Measure  I select, I always get this error message.

In table 204 "Units of Measurement," the column "International Standard Code" was not set in all rows. I entered values in the "International Standard Code" column for all rows, but without success. The error message and the error text remain identical.

Attached is the screenshot of the error message and the error details. It looks to me like Microsoft components are affected.

Agree with Khushbu, this may be a data problem caused by customization, so after uninstalling the third-party extension, create a new item to see if this problem still exists?

    Thanks.
