Hi Community,

How can I prevent a financial cost from posting for specific items during production order consumption in D365 F&O?

Requirement:
The items must stay on the BOM for Master Planning and picking lists but have a zero-cost impact during production.

Constraint:
These are stocked items with on-hand inventory, so changing their Item Model Group to non-stocked isn't an option.

Is there a standard, out-of-the-box workaround for this scenario without any customization? I'm looking for the best way to configure the posting profiles to achieve a zero-cost consumption for a stocked item.

Hi Abdul,

What is the inventory costing method?

Even if you modify the posting profile somehow, it will update the financial cost at inventory transaction level which must be reconciled with GLs.

In case, you set the standard costing method for the item and set zero price, even then all amount will get post in variances, so please elaborate more what is the actual business requirements here, if production order components will have financial costs, it will transfer to finished products for sure.. And if you want to make it zero, maximum it can be transferred to some variance GL.
