Prepayments in Business Central

Hi Everyone

I am getting this error regarding prepayments - I know what I must fix, I just want to understand why I have to assign the Gen Prod on the G/L account?
And does this imply that I need to have a Vendor Prepayment  Account allocated for all the different Gen Prod Posting Groups?

    You can use a generic Gen. Prod. Posting Group for the Prepayment GL, I don't see a need to create multiple Prepayment GL for each of them unless you have analyse on them.
     
    However, you will need to create multiple Prepayment GL if there is requirement for different VAT Prod. Posting Group.

    Hello,
     
    You don't need to define Prepayment Acc for all Gen Prod Post Groups, only for combinations of Gen. Prod. Posting Group that you want to use for prepayment postings.
    For example, I have a Gen Prod Posting Group = PREPAYMENT
    Also Gen. Business Posting Groups: PURCHASE/SALES/DOMESTIC/EU and only for combinations with PREPAYMENT gen prod posting group I have defined prepayments account.
    After that, add PREPAYMENT gen prod posting group 
    You can add your account to the purchase line without gen. prod. posting group defined on the card, but in the moment when you want to add prepayment %, BC will check if you have the appropriate general posting setup combination with included Prepayment Sales/Purchase acc, and if you do not have, you will get an error for missing setup.
