I have a customer who is currently using a custom WMS solution that is developed inside the NAV2016. I'm designing the architecture design of BC OnPrem where I'd rather use some 3rd party app for the WMS solution.
I have doubts of the 3rd party app and BC reservations. Do you have any experiences with any sort of issues in regards to reservations and 3rd party app for WMS?
Yes, reservations are the risky part with 3rd-party WMS.
Best practice is don’t use BC reservations at all.
Let the WMS (Atlas) handle:
Allocation
Picking
Availability
Let BC handle:
Posting
Financials
Problems only happen when both BC and the WMS try to reserve stock.
So decide one owner (usually the WMS) and disable/minimize BC reservations.
That’s the standard, safe architecture.
