We have to delete thousands of journal entries from D365 FO General Ledger. Is there a way?

Hi Skaaky,

Are you referring to posted accounting entries? If so, there is no supported option to remove them. What is the reason for deleting them?

If case you are referring to journal batch tables and journal lines (worksheets), you can delete them manually or using a cleanup batch job.

As Andre pointed out, once Journal Entries are posted, they cannot be deleted as this may cause inconsistencies in number sequences, system logs, and other records. Instead, please reverse the entry.

If the journals are unposted, you can delete them in bulk. Dynamics 365 Finance has a Delete journal lines feature that can be enabled in Feature management. Once activated, you can run a batch job to remove thousands of journal lines at once instead of deleting them manually.

⚠️ Note: Posted journals cannot be deleted. They form part of the official ledger and audit trail. The correct approach is to create a reversing journal to offset the entries. Always test the deletion process in a sandbox environment first and document the cleanup for compliance.

You can not delete voucher OOB, plus it is not advised to develop a solution to delete. But is they are journal lines, you can use standard delete or write a job to delete.
