Asset Leasing - D365 F&O

We currently have lots of cars that we lease, currently we add them to the Fixed Asset module and depreciate over 4 years, down to the balloon payment value Cost £16,725 less balloon payment £8,668 = £8057 / 48 = £168 per month.

I'm investigating using the Asset leasing module in D365 from Jan 2026, which I am quite happy using, but the question is what do I d with the Car assets that are in FA already, I have tried linking to existing assets , and basing the payment schedule on the remaining lease payments to get the NPV for the depreciation schedule and the RoU asset, but I then get some odd depreciation numbers.

Is the balloon payment considered as part of the lease payment, any thoughts

If you would like to handle existing Car Assets already in Fixed Assets. Please follow the below steps -

You can stop the depreciation in Fixed Assets Module.

Create the Lease summary for the fixed asset. Use the remaining lease term and remaining payments, including the balloon payment. Ensure the lease classification (finance lease) is correct.

Link the existing fixed assets for reference.

Follow the Asset Leasing process.
