Workflow is not recognizing configurable hierarchy

Good day

We are encountering the following workflow error when using Configurable Hierarchies with purchase requisitions, Stopped (error): X++ Exception: There is no hierarchy configured for use with this workflow
at SysWorkflowHierarchyProvider-resolve. See screenshot 1.

We have the following configuration in place:

  • Created a Configurable Hierarchy
  • Associated the Hierarchy to a workflow (Screenshot 2)
  • Specified that a configurable hierarchy must be used in the workflow editor with the relevant stop conditions. (screenshot 3)
  • Created position relationships associated with the hierarchy

Is there perhaps something missing?

    Hi,

    The settings are correct.

    Which version are you using?

    Hi,

    I don't have the version.

Does the requester or submitter exist in the configurable hierarchy?

Please test it with new hierarchy and new workflow. If the error still exists, please create a support ticket to Microsoft in LCS.

Hello, are you still having this issue? I ran into the same problem and realized the problem was:

    1. When I got to Batch Jobs, view the "Workflow message processing" job and look at the company it was running for was a specific company/data area

    2. I was trying to associate this hierarchy and use this workflow in another company.

The workflow for purch req is organization wide, but the association of the hierarchy is company specific which is a bit strange and the workflow logic doesn't find the association unless the association of the workflow to the hierarchy is done in the same company as the company that the workflow message processing batch job is running as.

How did you resolve your issue? We have setup the Purchase requisition workflow with the hierarchy association to the DAT company. But D365 seems to use a batch job associated to another company, resulting to the error.

    Hi,

Can you directly associate the workflow to the hierarchy ? Instead of doing it on the workflow parameters page ?

The available documentation on this crucial part of the set-up seems fragmented and/or incomplete or out of date.
