Hi everyone,
We recently upgraded to Business Central and brought across many years of historical transaction data. As a result, we're starting to run into storage capacity concerns.
After reviewing the table sizes, I found that the Item Ledger Entry table contains over 100 million records and is consuming a significant amount of database storage. Most of these transactions are fully completed and are no longer needed for day-to-day operations.
I'm looking for a safe way to compress or archive historical Item Ledger Entries up to a chosen cut-off date in order to reduce storage usage while maintaining data integrity.
I understand that standard Business Central no longer provides Item Ledger compression. Does anyone know of a safe approach to achieving this while correctly handling related tables such as Value Entry and Item Application Entry, and preserving inventory and costing integrity?
I'd appreciate any recommendations or experiences you can share.
