Consuming Items using FIFO

Hi Experts

I've experienced issues on consuming items on a production Journal, I want to consume 004tops & tails

I Have enough stock on Hand

But when I post, I get the following

But it seems it wants me to consume only whole values from the buckets available

And when I enter that first value of 616 the journal posts

Any recommendations?

Verify the other inventory is not reserved for another Production Order. I see your Qty on Consumption Lines is much higher than Inventory, so there is a chance the inventory has been allocated to other orders and unavailable for your consumption.

Another thing to check would be Bins, if you are using them. If your consumption line has a Bin listed, but the inventory is in a different Bin, it won't post. If you are not using Bins, you can skip this check.

You shouldn't have to consume in quantities equal to the ledger. The system will pull from the oldest first, assuming you're using FIFO.

This is one of those typical cases where we look at the Quantity on Hand and wonder why the system isn’t letting us use that stock. The tricky part is that we often don’t realize the stock might already be used elsewhere — for example, reserved or waiting to be posted. The system only reduces the quantity once it’s posted, so if it’s sitting somewhere unposted or reserved, it still shows as available.

Hello,

Based on the message, it appears that there is no stock for the product. I would recommend checking the following points to validate what might be happening:

- Verify that the stock is in the warehouse and location, including product variants.
- Item Tracking
- Direct Put-away & Pick, if applicable.
- If there are active reservations

As a temporary solution in a TEST environment, you could also make a positive adjustment to the product to verify the error.

Could be that on other consumption lines You have added the Applies-to Entry No. therefore already reserved this Output entry to a specific consumption?

Hi, good day

This could be due to active reservations, item tracking, or differences in location or bins; therefore, it's advisable to review actual inventory availability and verify if there are reservations or specific configurations that limit consumption.
