Manufacturing: GP vs. BC

Posted on by 196
Hi:

Dynamics GP has OpCodes, in Manufacturing, that can be reused as templates.

Business Central has Operation Codes.  But, they're not reusable.

It appears that the only way to have Operation Codes in Business Central "resemble" GP OpCodes is to copy the Routings in Business Central to different Versions.

Is that right?  Or, is there another way of having the same GP OpCodes functionality within Business Central?

Thanks!

    Hello,

There are not many great options out of the box for this; you could copy the routing as you suggested. Another approach that's been suggested is the use of standard Tasks - these might work to provide a template to standardise the tasks and apply them to different routings. With the Task Code serving as a reusable operation template, and when creating or editing routings - you would select from these predefined Task Codes. The next option would be custom development or find a suitable ISV from AppSource.
