How to filter Sales Orders, Posted Sales Invoices, etc.?

Hey all,

So we're bringing aboard new people. I've tried to use security filters on 18 Customers which works for the Customer card.
However, when looking at other areas like Item Ledger Entries, Posted Sales Invoices, and even Sales Orders all Customers still show.

I've done research and it shows to add Customer No or Sell-to-Customer No. Tables such as 36 - Sales Header, 112- Sales Invoice Header, 21 - Customer Ledger Entry, 379 - Detailed Customer Ledger Entry but it doesn't seem to work. Should I be filtering using another column?

Thanks in advance!
I have the same question (0)

    Hello ,

Security filters only work if all permission sets granting access to a table have the same filter—one unfiltered permission overrides everything. For documents (Sales Orders, Posted Sales Invoices), filter on Sell-to Customer No. (not Customer No.) and apply it consistently on both header and line tables (36/37, 112/113). For Customer Ledger Entries, Customer No. is correct. Item Ledger Entry has no Customer No.; you must use Source Type = Customer and Source No., which also means you’ll hide non-customer entries (purchases, transfers). If that’s not acceptable, security filters aren’t the right tool—use custom pages/reports. First step: always check Effective Permissions.

If the SecurityFiltering Property is not set in the standard, all data will be displayed.
It is recommended that you set Security Filters for all the tables that require them to avoid problems.

Hey guys when I filter Item Ledger Entries and/or Sales Line.. It does hide things but then now I can't properly use a Sales Order to view Item Availability, etc. I can't even select the next Sales Order No. without first selecting Customer No. This is highly restrictive. I'm not sure what to do.

I would recommend small customization for viewing . You can create Admin View for Item Availabiltity and custom Admin Sales Order view  . since you are security filters are in place.

    Else
Remove Security filters . And do proper Customization while selecting the item or customer in transaction . It may account heavy customization if there are multiple scenarios .

    Hi,

Using security filter can be difficult. There are large number of tables that will be impacting your normal transaction user.
You need to analyze and test your scenarios thoroughly. Here is some guide and limitation to security filter - Security Filter in Business Central and its limitations

Consider using an extension or app which allows user friendly Security Filter solution.

I've build a solution to allow user friendly approach to setting security filter. Here is the link - Security Filter in Business Central (Customized Solution)
