Is there a method for quickly creating new leads from an existing lead record?

Often when I am qualifying lead I will be given information about another person in the target company that I should be talking to. I want to create a separate lead record for that individual. Is there a way to quickly create a new lead from an existing lead that will important the base company information, but leave the individual contact information (email, mobile phone, title, etc) blank? I have sued other CRM platforms that have this functionality, but I have not been able to figure out how to do this in Dynamics.

You could do this a few ways:

Write a Javascript function and attach it to a button in the ribbon that opens a new Lead record, populating the fields you want to have copied

Create a plugin that creates a new lead record with your desired fields copied over. Call the plugin from a button on the form or on the ribbon

Create the new lead from the Account record and add some custom field mapping to auto-populate information from the Account record

Generally speaking, I think the first option is your best bet. It can be written to pop-open the new lead form immediately with your populated information ready to go.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was hoping there was a native function that could be unlocked by our IT department.

Unfortunately not, but it's not too crazy of a request. It's the type of requirement I see often as an implementation partner. It's probably worth at least talking to your IT team, or maybe looking even for an implementation partner who can offer support for items like this. I would estimate this out to just a few hours of work at the most for a developer.
