I am trying to transfer WIP cost to Fixed Assets. However, I am unable to see the Estimates functionality in Project Management and Accounting module. How can I access to it?
“AI was used in this reply”. In Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, the Estimates functionality is essential for recognizing and transferring Work in Progress (WIP) costs to Fixed Assets. If you do not see the Estimates option in the Project Management and Accounting module, follow these steps to enable and access it:
Solution to Access Estimates Functionality:
1. Verify Project Group Setup
Navigate to: Project management and accounting > Setup > Project categories > Project groups
Ensure that the Cost template and WIP posting accounts are correctly configured.
The project group should have the correct revenue recognition method that requires estimates.
2. Enable Estimates in the Project Setup
Go to Project management and accounting > Projects > All projects
Select the project and click Edit.
Ensure that the Project type is either Fixed-price or Investment because estimates are typically used for these types.
In the Estimate tab, check if estimation settings are configured properly.
3. Check Security Roles & Permissions
Ensure that your user role has permission to access Estimates.
Navigate to: System administration > Security > Security configuration
Search for Project Manager or Project Accountant roles and confirm they have access to Estimate functionality.
4. Enable Project Estimates in Feature Management
Go to System administration > Feature management
Look for any feature related to Project estimates and ensure it is enabled.
5. Refresh & Revalidate
If changes were made, clear browser cache and refresh the Project Management and Accounting workspace.
Try navigating again to Manage > Process in the Project module to check if Estimates is now visible.
6. Alternative Navigation Path
If Estimates is still not visible under Manage > Process, try accessing it through:
Project management and accounting > Periodic > Project estimates
After successfully running Estimates, you can proceed with transferring WIP costs to Fixed Assets using the Elimination journal process. Let me know if you need further guidance!
