Our company payroll is managed by an external payroll provider. They issue the salary checks to employees and then share the corresponding check numbers with our company. However, in Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, we are unable to record the same check numbers against the employees. When we try to update, the system automatically reshuffles the check numbers based on the employees’ alphabetical order. Could you please suggest a solution to update and retain the same check numbers, as issued by the payroll company, in the vendor payment journal?

Hi,

If checks are generated and issued by external payroll provider, then you need to use Check number method as "Free" instead of "Fixed", in this case, you can give the Cheque number as you want. Because if you keep it Fixed, it will take the number from pre-defined number, and while generating the numbers, it uses alphabetical order.
