Sales order cancel work In Process

Hello.
 
I am having a weird issue that I can't resolve and it is the first time I have seen it. Performed all sorts of different ideas but can't get it to work.
 
Issue: I have sales orders and transfer orders work that are stuck with the status "In process". I can't cancel the work because I keep getting weird errors. Most recent one I got when I tried to cancel the work was "load line work created quantity can't be updated to a negative value". 
 
Approach: 1. I have tried cancelling the work on the work details form where it tells you pick and put location etc. This didn't work.
                  2. Performed a clean up job to cancel the work through warehouse management > Periodic task > clean up > cancel work. This works sometimes in this scenario and                          doesn't work other times, so can't figure out root cause.
 
Any suggestions would be appreciated. A Microsoft ticket has been issued but prefer to have someone to share knowledge or ideas who has faced something similar to this before. Always interested in looking at things from different perspective.

    Putting out my solution that I found eventually by playing around was to go to Warehouse management > Periodic Tasks > Clean up > Cancel work
     
    This will force the work to close and reverse any reservations regardless if the work status is in process or open.

    The released quantity is already positive, however I did forget to mention a customization that was done on the sales order and perhaps it might be useful to know as well. We had put a customization where a work is split into multiple work lines meaning a sales order is created for 4000 cases, we don't have 4000 cases under one license plate so the work gets split into different lines with different amount of cases. Hence, for one of the lines which is in process, we can't cancel it because of the above error we get.
     
    Sagar, the error I am receiving is for work in process.

    Hello Aneeq,
     
    1. Go to the relevant sales order lines and add this column:  `Released Quantity`
    2. For work to be cancelled, the Sales Line Released Quantity cannot be negative, so increase the value in that column to something that is way above the quantity on the workline that you want to cancel
    3. You might get another error that indicating that you cant increase because it exceeds the overdelivery limitor something of that nature, so you may have to increase that delivery remainder quantity as well to allow the increase of the Released Quantity.
    4. You might have to play around with the values several time before it works 
    5. After you cancel the work, return all values to what they were or should be.
     
    Hopefully, that will solve the issue.

    What error is coming when you try to cancel via the work form? Work type pick is closed or in-process?
