Using GS1 QR Code for Internal Warehouse Barcode in D365 F&O (Without GTIN)

Hi Experts,
We want to use barcode / QR code functionality for internal warehouse management in D365 Finance & Operations.
In our business, items are managed with product variants as Configuration and  Version dimension, so each purchased item can be uniquely identified using the following combination:
Example:
  • Item: HB1703285322
  • Configuration: CON445
  • Version: R1
  • Batch: BTCH0006
  • Serial: SRL005
Requirement:
We want to generate a single QR code that contains all the above values. This QR code will be printed and affixed to the product. During RAW material picking, one scan should automatically capture all these dimensions in the warehouse mobile process.

We understand that this is typically achieved using GS1 barcode policy setup. However, our use case is internal only:
  • We are not sharing barcodes with vendors or customers
  • We do not have GTIN numbers
  • We would prefer to use Item Number instead of GTIN
Questions:
  1. Is it possible to configure a GS1 QR code for internal use only in D365 F&O?
  2. Can we use Item Number (or another internal identifier) instead of GTIN in GS1 policy?
  3. If GTIN is mandatory, is there any alternative approach to generate a single QR code and decode all dimensions in one scan?
I have the same question (0)
