Bank statement import data exchange definition

I have a CSV file for a bank account to import to the bank account reconciliation. I've setup the data exchange definition to omit the first 7 header lines as they don't have any debits or credit transactions. However, now there are several manual alterations that I would have to make before being able to import the file. These include:
total lines for deposits, withdrawals, checks. If I don't remove those, it causes all of those to be double counted which I don't want. These lines are in the middle of the file with 3 sections, so they are not header or footer lines.
Withdraws and check sections are showing as positive debit amounts, rather than as negative credit amounts.

Is there a way to create some sort of transformation rule or manipulate excel so that I don't have to manually go and delete the 3 total lines, as well as changing the withdraws and checks to credit amounts?

I have the same question (0)

Business Central’s Data Exchange Definition doesn’t support skipping middle “total” lines or changing amounts dynamically. To avoid manual edits, you can:

Use Power Query in Excel to clean the file (remove total rows and flip amounts).

Or, build a small extension to handle this via a staging table.

While setting up the data exchange definition for bank import files, please make sure t=hat in your CSV file, all the amounts must be shown in a single amount column. Debit amounts as positive and credit amounts as negative.
Also, please make sure that your CSV import file is free of total lines.

So, the first CSV file needs to be cleaned and then imported into Business Central.

I hope it will resolved your concerns.

Why didn't you kickstart this with Assisted setup?

    Hello,

Unfortunately, there is no way to delete lines in the middle in the standard version. To meet your requirement, you would have to use an AL or Power Query development to remove the lines you don't need.

    I hope this helps.
