Hi:

How do you find a batch of unposted journal entries?

I have looked in a batch that should contain unposted entries.  But, it's empty.

Thanks!

    Hi,

I think you can just go to the configuration package and use export to excel for 81 table (General journal line) and you will get all the required unposted lines.

Please mark "Verified" if it helps.

Hi, Just open the table to see it.

How to Find Unposted Journal Entries
    @YUN ZHU:

I thought table 81 only holds posted data, such as "General Ledger Entries".

Does it hold unposted data, as well?

How to Find Unposted Journal Entries
What do you mean by unposted journal entries? Are you referring to a batch that you are trying to post, but it fails? If you are using journals to post entries, then you should see them in the same batch if they are not posted. But if you are referring to a different process, then provide us with more details about that process.

General Ledger Entries refers to the G/L Entry table, and all the unposted data is in Gen. Journal Line if they are Payment Journal or Cash Receipt Journal, or Item Journal Line if you are trying to post Inventory

No, the details in table 81 are all unposted. The details that have been posted are in table G/L Entry (17)
And Posted Gen. Journal Line (181)

    Thanks.

How to Find Unposted Journal Entries
@YUN ZHU:  I had imported journal entries into table 81.  Those entries are now showing in "General Ledger Entries", which is the posted General Ledger data.

So, I'm confused.  Could you help me please to understand, for my future reference?

You're great!  I thank you and appreciate it!

How to Find Unposted Journal Entries
If the entries are in G/L entry table it means they are successfully posted, if you imported entries into gen. Journal line have you posted them on the batch ?

How to Find Unposted Journal Entries
    Hi,

Check the following to find unposted journal entries in Business Central:
    > Correct Batch Selection: Open the journal (e.g., General Journal) and ensure the Batch Name matches the batch you want. Only entries in that batch will appear.
    > Filters: Clear or adjust filters on Posting Date, Document No., or other fields, filters can make entries disappear.
    > Status: Make sure you are looking at unposted entries. Posted lines will not show in the journal.
    > Other Journals: Sometimes entries are in a different journal (e.g., Payment, Sales, Purchase) than expected.
    > Use a Query: Open All Journal Lines page (Search > All Journal Lines) and filter by Status = Open to see all unposted entries across batches.

This ensures you capture entries even if they don’t appear in the expected journal batch.

    Thanks

How to Find Unposted Journal Entries
    Hi @JE-20081519-0

    Here’s the distinction:
    > Table 81 (Gen. Journal Line): Holds unposted journal entries.
    > Posting: Moves entries from Table 81 to Table 17 (G/L Entry) and clears Table 81.
    > Your Case: Imported entries are in G/L because they were posted, so they are no longer unposted.
    > Key: Importing doesn’t post automatically; once posted, entries can’t be unposted, use a reversing journal to correct mistakes.

    Thanks

General Journal , Table Id is 81 . You can get the data from Table 81 . Before Posting data is availble in Table 81.

After Posting , TAble is G//L Entries , Table Id - 17 . Journal Batch Name , Journal Template Name are stored in GL Entries .

Check Document No for Batch, Same Document can be posted with multiple lines in both Tables
