Good morning Rosemary,
The pivot refresh only re-reads the data sheet inside the workbook, it does not go back to BC. To get the new postings use the Data tab and Refresh All — that is what runs the queries against Business Central, and it asks you to sign in the first time. Then refresh the pivot. If external content stays blocked you keep seeing the old numbers.
For the fields the users remove every time, don't fix it on the generated file. Take the Excel layout from Report Layouts, copy it, remove the fields once, save it and upload it back as a custom layout, then set it as default for that report. After that everyone gets it clean, and no code is involved.
The Enable Content prompt goes away if IT adds the download folder as a Trusted Location in Excel.
And if they really dislike Excel, a Financial Report with a row definition gives a trial balance straight on screen. Might be worth showing them that too.
Glad to help - follow up if anything is unclear.
► If this solved it, marking it verified helps others too.
