Printing Lot and Serial Numbers on a Sales Shipment

Hi

I have been going around in circles for days trying to print my lot or serial numbers on a sales shipment, I have created an AL and then tried to create both a word layout 1308 then subsequently changed it all to try and see if an RDLC would be better but I am getting no where.  The layout 1308 prints just the name of the field I have created/called and the RDLC I can't see the field at all. 
 
I am quite surprised that as an advanced package this is not something it can do as standard as other packages can/do.   Any hints or tips on where I might be going wrong are very welcome!

    Hello,
     
    Sales Shipment doesn’t store lot/serial numbers. They come from Item Ledger Entries, so layouts fail because there’s no data on the shipment line. To print them, you must extend report 1308, add a dataitem for Item Ledger Entry linked to the shipment line, and bind Lot/Serial fields (RDLC is easier than Word). This is by design, not a missing standard feature.
