How do I use the Customer insights Self service licence that we have with our partner benefits?  I have allocated licences, we are keen to test it in a sandbox, but I don't know what the first steps are to set it up.

    We ran into the same confusion. First check if you already have an environment with Customer Insights enabled. 
    If not, you may need to request provisioning through Partner Center or your Microsoft contact, depending on how the partner benefit was granted. Once the environment exists, assign the proper security roles inside that environment and then access Customer Insights through make.powerapps.com by switching to it.
     
    If you want to test in the sandbox, make sure that the sandbox is actually enabled for Customer Insights, because not all of them are by default. After that, setup is mostly guided to connect data, configure tables, and run identity resolution.

    Customer Insights is licensed per tenant, meaning that if you have the license, you can install the module in all your environments.
    Validate that you have the license, and then start the installation of Customer Insights: Install and manage Dynamics 365 Customer Insights
