I was troubleshooting an issue a user was having accessing Management Reporter. I am new to managing MS Dynamics due to employee leaving our company. When I attempted to look at the User in Security, I got the following error: The operation could not be completed due to failure on the server
In the Event Log on the server where Management Reporter is run, the following error was logged:
The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.
Action: http://schemas.microsoft.com/cpm/2010/01/security/ISecurityService/GetPrincipalincludeInactivePrincipalServiceFaultFault Fault code: Sender IsSenderFault: True IsReceiverFault: False Reason: The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.
In the Event Log on the server where the SQLServer is located:
The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.
When I searched the internet for these errors, I would get results that the SID doesn't match. I ran whoami /user commands to get my user's SID on both servers and compared with my user SID in the database, and they match. Nothing about my user had been modified on our servers/network. The error occurs for any of the user logged in to Management Reporter, and all have Administrator Role. These errors only occur in Security - User. All the users can design and run reports or any thing else they have tried in Management Reporter.
We are using Management Reporter 2012 v2.12.16000.17 running off the server or using RDP connection. We are using Hybrid AD on Windows server 2016 Datacenter and MS 365 Azure.
BTW I was able to fix the original issue. As far as I know, nothing has changed in MS Dynamics since I was last in Security several months ago when I added a new user. I am just SOL if I need to create a new user in Management Reporter in the future.
