Hi,

I’m looking for a detailed explanation of how the “Inventory sold on the invoice line” functionality works in Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, specifically in the context of Fixed Assets.

Appreciate any clarification or real system examples. Thanks in advance

    Hi Shubham,

Thanks for your reply. I’m trying to understand the “Inventory sold on the invoice line” works in the context of Fixed Assets.

From what I understand, it may happen when an inventory item linked to a fixed asset is sold through a sales invoice, and the system processes both the inventory transaction and the fixed asset disposal.

What I’m trying to understand is:

    • when exactly this functionality is triggered in the system
    • how the system connects the inventory transaction with the fixed asset transaction

If anyone has a simple example from the system, it would really help. Thanks!

    Hello,

As mentioned my Shubham can you share more details? From Fixed asset standpoint the inventory is not move.
The sales invoice create transaction in the GL and Fixed asset transaction (the inventory is not move).

About regular sales (no Fixed asset), the system create and negative inventory transaction (because we are sending items), and the amount track at the inventory record level is the items' cost. The cost is based on the value polices select into the product release master data ( see item model group).

    Thank you,
    Giorgio
