How to Automatically Filter Dashboard Data by User’s Department in Dynamics 365

Hi everyone,

I’ve created separate dashboards for different departments (e.g., Marketing, Transportation, and LifeServices) and shared each one with the respective team.
However, since there are many departments, I don’t want to keep creating and managing multiple dashboards — especially because the only difference between them is the Department filter.

What I want to achieve is:

Have a single dashboard that automatically filters data based on the logged-in user’s department or team.
For example, when a Transportation team member opens the dashboard, it should only show Transportation-related data (charts, views, KPIs, etc.).
Similarly, users from other departments should only see their department’s relevant data when viewing the same dashboard.
Is there a way to apply such a dynamic filter based on the user’s team or department when they open the dashboard?
I have the same question (0)

The short answer is no, not really. You can adjust the data being used in D365 CRM Dashboards by using "Is Current User" filters in your views, but you cannot change the visuals or other information based on the logged in user.

Your best bet would be to create separate dashboards for each team and setting security roles on them (which has the added bonus of being able to share multiple dashboards with a user who needs to see more than one), or doing a PowerBI report/dashboard as a CRM Dashboard.
