Opportunity Timeline - suddenly no more emails from related quotes and leads

Hi,
 
a couple of months ago we noticed that emails related to a qualified lead, were no longer visible from the opportunity timeline. Whereas before it was.
 
Now I notice the same behavior for e-mails & activities that are regarding a quote, are now only visible from the quote timeline and related account timeline. 
But no longer from the related opportunity timeline?
 
Anyone who knows whether this is due to an updated setting? 
Or is this a bug, soon to be fixed by Microsoft?

    Microsoft stopped automatically rolling up activities (like emails from Quotes or Leads) to Opportunity timelines as part of modern timeline enhancements introduced in 2022 Release Wave 2 and reinforced in 2024 updates , not sure for your environment when it reinforced.
    You can use now the Related field on Email to tag opportunity or other tables if you like to show that on your timeline. Let me know if this clarify your question.

    That seems to explain the issue. 
    But is it correct that Microsoft released this new independent "related" feature but has taken away the "regarding" specific roll-up feature towards opportunity? (whereas roll-up to account is still working?)
     
    How are we supposed to deal now with this sudden loss of feature regarding our:
     
    - current data: Should we now update ALL email data to also add the regarding value into the "related" field, to have the same view on (related) emails in our opportunity timeline again? Or is there a tool / feature that can help to "repair' this data?
     
    - future emails: how can we automate to preserve the same kind of "regarding" behavior to roll-up to the opportunity timeline? Again is there a feature, when having an email regarding a quote - to automatically fill the related field with that related opportunity? 
    for example: if i copy an incoming outlook email to a quote (through  "set regarding" )  - should i add a powerautomate myself to ensure the "related" field is also updated to the opportunity linked to that quote? 
     
    I do hope there's a good tool to at least update my historic emails to be reflected in the opportunity timelines again...
