Form fill assistance by Drag Files - AI learning for better processing possible?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently exploring the Form fill assistance by dragging files feature in Dynamics 365, and I’m wondering whether it’s possible to train the AI to better understand and extract information from documents that are used frequently.

For example, in our scenario we often work with:

  • SAP‑generated quotes

  • Standard PDF templates for proposals

  • Other recurring document layouts

  •

Is there a way to “teach” the CRM AI what to look for in these documents so that the extraction becomes more reliable over time?
Can we provide sample documents, define mapping rules, or somehow improve the model’s accuracy for specific document types?

Any guidance on whether this is supported today or if there are recommended best practices would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Today, you can’t “train” or upload mapping rules directly into the Form fill assistance feature. Copilot generates suggestions from three places: your in‑app usage/context, clipboard (Smart paste), and file contents (Files). It supports only certain field types(text, numeric, choice, and date) and works per open tab, there’s no user‑exposed pipeline to upload templates or teach the extractor for specific layouts.

If you need layout‑aware, trainable extraction (e.g., SAP quotes, standardized proposal PDFs), the recommended approach is to use AI Builder’s Document processing (custom model) with Power Automate/Power Apps, and then write the extracted data into Dataverse. This gives you trainable models, collections for multiple layouts, and explicit field mappings.
