Hi All,

How should we handle retry policies and exception-handling mechanisms when integrating Dynamics 365 CRM with Azure components?

    Hi rajeshjamrodh,

Can you please provide more details and be specific about what Azure service you are using? Azure has a lot of different components. It is impossible for us to guess which service you are using.

Integrating Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM with Azure components in the BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance) domain requires high reliability, strict compliance, and zero data loss. Financial transactions and customer records (like loan originations, KYC checks, or policy updates) cannot afford silent failures or duplicate processing.

The Dynamics 365–Azure integration should have a clear and controlled retry mechanism for temporary issues such as timeouts or service interruptions. It should follow the Dataverse Retry-After guidance when throttling occurs and use asynchronous messaging and dead-letter queues where needed.

The solution should also prevent duplicate processing by using a unique transaction or integration ID and should clearly separate temporary technical errors from permanent business or data errors. For systems that remain unavailable for a longer period, a circuit-breaker approach and proper monitoring and alerts should be considered.

Finally, retry responsibilities should be clearly defined for each integration component to avoid unnecessary retries, duplicate transactions, and excessive load on the systems.
