Dynamics 365 CRM Business Processes and Business Central Integration Data Flow

Hello ,

I am looking for reliable resources or guidance to better understand the standard business processes and data flows in Dynamics 365 CRM.

My questions:

  1. Is there a reference that shows the standard business process flows for Dynamics 365 modules, such as:

  • Sales Hub

  • Customer Service Hub

  • Field Service

For example:
Lead → Opportunity → Quote → Sales Order

I would like to understand the available standard processes and how CRM capabilities should be structured.

  1. Is there a reference/documentation that explains the standard integration mapping between Dynamics 365 CRM and Business Central, including:

  • Shared entities

  • Entity mapping

  • Synchronization direction

For example:
CRM Account ↔ Business Central Customer
(Direction: Bidirectional)

I am looking for a clear overview of the standard supported processes and integration flows to help design the correct implementation approach.

Thank you.

    Hi,

    1. Standard Business Process Flows:

    Sales Hub: Lead → Qualify → Opportunity → Develop → Propose → Close → Quote → Order → Invoice

Customer Service Hub: Case → Identify → Research → Resolve → Close

Field Service: Work Order → Schedule → Dispatch → Perform → Complete → Invoice

    Official documentation:

    Sales BPF: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/sales/business-process-flows-dynamics-365-sales

    Customer Service: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/customer-service/implement/customer-service-hub-user-guide-case-sla

    Field Service: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/field-service/work-order-lifecycle

    2. Standard CRM to Business Central Integration Mapping:

The native integration uses Dataverse. Key entity mappings:

    Account to Customer (Bidirectional)

    Contact to Contact (Bidirectional)

Product to Item (BC to CRM)

Quote to Sales Quote (CRM to BC)

Order to Sales Order (CRM to BC)

Invoice to Sales Invoice (BC to CRM)

Currency, Price List, Payment Terms, Unit of Measure (BC to CRM)

    Salesperson to Salesperson/Purchaser (Bidirectional)

Setup is through the built-in "Set Up Dynamics 365 Connection" wizard in Business Central. Default sync runs every 30 minutes, configurable per mapping.

    Full integration docs: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/admin-synchronizing-business-central-and-sales

Note: The standard integration covers the Lead-to-Cash cycle. Field Service work orders and Customer Service cases do not sync natively to BC and would need custom flows via Power Automate or Dataverse APIs.

    Regards
