Production order quantity validation from operation to next operation

1. A batch order for an item with 6 operations. (formula)

2. Quantity: 1,000 pieces.

3. I want to start production with 1,000 pieces for operation #1 only, and I will not post the route card immediately.

4. I will open the route card, record 900 in the "Good Quantity" field and 100 in the "Error" field, then post the route card.

5. Ideally, the system should restrict me to 900 pieces when starting the second operation. However, the issue is that the system allows me to enter any quantity, even more than 1,000.

6. Is it possible to configure the system to enforce this behavior?

Production order quantity validation from operation to next operation
Hi Mahmoud, yes this is possible. You need to configure this in Production parameters under the Manufacturing execution setup section of the Production control module. You would use the Startup and feedback quantity validation settings:

The documentation on MS Learn is poor. They only provide a single bullet on this setup with no examples to how it works. Or the fact that is can be used without actually using the Production floor execution interface and just use for your scenario.

Here are the options from the startup validation dropdown:

You could set to "Previous operation finished quantity" so that you cannot start more than was completed at the operation that was already reported.

This should prevent you from starting operation 20 for a quantity higher than operation 10 was completed for. If you want to base it on posting route cards rather than starting operations, you would use the Feedback quantity validation setting. That being said, when I have used this in the past, we were not creating manual route cards but tying their creation to Start and RAF updates for unique operations, so please test and validate this also works for your scenarios.
