Customizing field population - Picking List by Order

Hello,

I am working in Dynamics Business Central Version: US Business Central 22.4 (Platform 22.0.60396.0 + Application 22.4.59114.59220).

When generating a pick list from the Sales Order, we currently use a custom report layout which is a modified copy of the Picking List by Order report layout (10153 is the Report ID in our system for the original Base Application layout.

There is a /Ship Via/ field that currently populates with the /Shipment Method Description/ - I want to make a change to this field so that it populates with the /Shipment Method Code/ instead of the description.

Both Report Layouts are /Custom Layouts/ with only RDLC types.

The layout I would like to make the change to is a custom report layout created by our companies previous technical partner where the extension listed was created by their developers.

Am I able to make that change myself or will we need to create an entirely new extension/custom report layout?

Note: I did naively export the layout and changed every instance of ShipmentMethod_Description to ShipmentMethod_Code in the sandbox and it returned a /textbox/ error.

If there is any more information I can give that would help you answer this for me, please let me know.

Thank you!

If you just modify the layout, you don't need to open the source code.
You can export and import on page A or B on Report Layout Selection or Report Layouts page. If you get an error when you modify it, it means there is something wrong with the RDLC file. This also has nothing to do with the original code.

However, if you want to add new fields, modify the structure of the report, or add some processing, this needs to be done in the report object and the source code is required.

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.
