Batch Management Service failing to start

Hi experts,

Batch Management Service is failed to start.

Error message:
Windows could not start the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Unified Operations: Batch Management Service service on Local Computer.
Error 1064: An Exception occurred in the service when handling the control request.

1. Login to VM
2. Go to services
3. Select Microsoft Dynamics 365 Unified Operations: Batch Management Service, Click start button to 4. Run the service.
5. After few seconds error pops-up.

There are no customizations on this box.

Any idea?

Hi,

I resolved this issue by deleting my old package folders

System was in Maintenance mode. Disabled it and issue got fixed

Hi BillDoors,

Try to open Visual studio and do a full build, usually batch management service crashes when there is a corruption in the models.

This way you can check if there is any corruption with you models and try to fix them.

Seems that your system is in Maintenance mode - perhaps you forgot to disable the maintenance mode after doing some changes?

Hi BillDoors,

Please try to remove duplicate objects in your model, then build the models and synchronize the database.

Hi Sukrut!

I restarted the environment. After the windows start up, Batch service shows starting, after few minutes the status is not running(Blank).

When I explicitly click start on the Batch service, the progress bar shows up and in between progression the error message box pop up.

I see below event in the Windows event viewer:

The description for Event ID 110 from source Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

AX is shutting down due to an error.

Microsoft.Dynamics.AX.Batch.BatchService+MaintenanceModeBatchStartupException: Exception of type 'Microsoft.Dynamics.AX.Batch.BatchService+MaintenanceModeBatchStartupException' was thrown.

at Microsoft.Dynamics.AX.Batch.BatchService.OnStart(String[] args)

Exception details:

Microsoft.Dynamics.AX.Batch.BatchService+MaintenanceModeBatchStartupException: Exception of type 'Microsoft.Dynamics.AX.Batch.BatchService+MaintenanceModeBatchStartupException' was thrown.

at Microsoft.Dynamics.AX.Batch.BatchService.OnStart(String[] args)

Is it in starting state after you click ok ? Did you try restarting server and see if it starts automatically with that ?
